Our Story
British Cats NY is a TICA Registered cattery, born from a deep appreciation for the elegance, gentle nature, and timeless beauty of British Shorthair and Longhair cats. What began as a personal passion has grown into a commitment to preserving this remarkable breed through thoughtful, responsible breeding.
To build the foundation of our cattery, we carefully selected exceptional cats from respected breeding programs in Ukraine, London, and Bulgaria, many with distinguished champion bloodlines. Every breeding is planned with health, temperament, and breed excellence at its core.
Above all, we believe every kitten deserves the very best start in life. Raised in our home with love, care, and daily socialization, our kittens leave us not only beautiful, but confident, affectionate, and ready to become cherished members of their new families.
Bringing Home Your Kitten
Our Kittens
Our kittens are individually priced based on factors including pedigree, coat, color, and overall quality.
Pet kittens are currently priced from $2,000–$5,000.
Each kitten is priced individually, and availability and pricing are confirmed directly with prospective families.

Reserving a Kitten
Once a kitten has been selected and a reservation is confirmed, a $500-1500 (based on kitten price) non-refundable reservation deposit is required. The deposit is applied toward the kitten's total purchase price.
For families joining our waiting list, a deposit may also be requested to secure a place for a particular litter or future availability. Waiting-list arrangements are discussed individually.
The remaining balance is due at the time of pickup.

Going Home
Our kittens leave for their new families when they are developmentally and medically ready, typically around 8–12 weeks of age. We allow each kitten the time needed to become fully weaned, independently comfortable with their established raw and cooked diet, and confident in their daily routines. As they mature, their individual personalities and temperaments also become more apparent, giving us a better understanding of who they are and allowing us to thoughtfully prepare each kitten for their transition home.

Health Guarantee
Every kitten comes with a written health guarantee: a 15-day window to have your kitten examined by your own veterinarian, and a full one-year guarantee against congenital or hereditary conditions. Full terms are outlined in the Kitten Purchase Agreement provided below.

Our relationship with each family does not end when a kitten leaves our cattery. We remain available to our kitten parents for questions, guidance, and support as their new companion settles in and grows. From nutrition and daily routines to temperament and development, we are always happy to share our experience and help whenever needed. We love staying in touch and seeing our kittens thrive in their new homes.

Pickup & Delivery
Kittens may be picked up directly from our cattery in Staten Island, New York.
Private delivery can also be arranged depending on the family's location. Because every delivery is different, we coordinate the details individually to determine the safest and most convenient arrangement for both the kitten and their new family.
If you are traveling from outside the New York area, we are happy to discuss pickup and delivery options with you.
Before You Reserve
We want every placement to be the right fit. Prospective families are welcome to contact us with questions about our kittens, upcoming litters, individual cats, or the reservation process before making a commitment.
A formal Kitten Purchase Agreement and Health Guarantee is provided as part of the reservation process.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a British Shorthair and a British Longhair?
They're the same breed genetically, but the Longhair carries a recessive gene for longer fur. Both share the same round, sturdy build and calm, independent, affectionate temperament; the main difference is coat length and grooming needs.
Are your breeding cats health tested?
Yes, our queens and studs are tested for conditions, including FeLV and FIV, before being included in our breeding program.
Are your kittens TICA registered?
Yes, after pickup, once you've named your kitten, we'll send you the registration documents needed to register with TICA. From there, you can also order a pedigree certificate if you'd like one.
Can I visit the cattery before reserving?
You are welcome to schedule a virtual meet and greet (FaceTime) with us to see your potential kitten! Unfortunately we NO LONGER accept in person visitation as a protocol to protect our kittens from unknown diseases and virus.
How do I reserve a kitten?
Once you've selected a kitten (or joined the waitlist for an upcoming litter), a non-refundable deposit secures your reservation. The remaining balance is due at pickup. When your deposit is received, your kitten is reserved exclusively for you and is no longer shown to prospective buyers.
Do you deliver kittens outside of Staten Island / New York?
Kittens can be picked up directly from our Staten Island cattery, and delivery can be arranged depending on your location. We do not ship kittens via cargo. We offer in-person pickup or arrange private ground delivery.
I have other pets at home — any advice for introductions?
We're always happy to talk through introductions for your specific household. In general, kittens should be kept separate from resident pets for the first 15 days, with slow, supervised introductions after that.
Do you stay in touch after I bring my kitten home?
Always. We love hearing updates and are happy to help with questions on nutrition, behavior, or anything else as your kitten settles in.
